Strawberry Chocolate Lover’s Pie

9 inch baked pie shell

2 square semi-sweet chocolate (2 ounces)

1 tbsp. butter or margarine

2 3oz packages cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup sour cream

2-3 tsp. vanilla

3-4 cups hulled fresh strawberries

1/3 cup strawberry jam

1 square semi-sweet chocolate melted (1 oz) (optional)

  1. In a small saucepan melt the semisweet chocolate and butter over low heat.  Spread the chocolate mixture evenly over the bottom and sides of the prepared pie shell.

  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together 2 packages of cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla until smooth.  Spread evenly in pie shell.  Cover and chill at least 2 hours.

  3. Before serving, arrange berries, hulled end down over firm cream cheese and sour cream filling.

  4. In another small saucepan, heat the strawberry jam until just melted.  Add some water until thin.  Drizzle over the arranged strawberries on the pie.  Drizzle the strawberries with melted chocolate, if you like.  Store in the refrigerator.
